Series of quakes hit Oita

TOKYO — An earthquake measuring a preliminary magnitude of 4.5 rocked central Oita Prefecture in southwestern Japan on Thursday evening, following quakes of similar strength earlier in the day and on the previous day, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or major damage from the quake that occurred around 8:50 p.m., and the agency did not issue a tsunami warning. The agency said the quake measured 4 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in the city of Beppu, the same force as the temblors which occurred around 5:22 p.m. Thursday as well as late Wednesday. The quakes were also felt in other parts of the main island of Kyushu as well as the Chugoku and Shikoku regions in western Japan.

hingga saat ini pun gegaran kecil dan berpanjangan masih terasa. ‘vibration’ sungguh ketara bila melihat takungan air mengeluarkan alunan gelombangnya sendiri.  keadaan sekarang seperti berada di atas feri yang air di bawahnya mengalir deras. kawasan-kawasan selamat telah dikenalpasti dan tidak jauh dari sini. tapi sempatkah? kalau gegaran kecil tadi menjadi terlalu besar dan di luar kotak munasabah!
